buy cheap prednisone When faced with the daunting task of writing an introductory post, I could only think of Ricardo Montalban. You know – Mr. Roarke?
“I am your host, Mr. Roarke. Welcome to Fantasy Island!”
That’s what everyone of a certain age thinks about when contemplating greetings, right?
Probably not which means that this isn’t going as well as I had hoped.
Well, I am not really anything like Ricardo Montalban anyway and I’m not really your “host” as much as one of the voices that will pop up here but this can be like a virtual Fantasy Island but with less Charo and more queer families.
So let’s get to the queer family part of this.
My name is Vikki and I’ve been with my partner, Luisa, for almost 20 years. This means I am very old and very wise. We live in Minneapolis with our two kids: Miguel (age 11) and Zeca (age 7). They are wonderful and active and loud – I was a brunette when the first was born and, now, I am a grey haired old lady. We spend our days running kids to school and guitar lessons and soccer practice.
For those who like to keep track of such things on their Queer Family Bingo Cards, we used the same unknown donor for both kids and I carried both. We are fortunate to live in a state that allows second parent adoptions so Luisa was able to legally adopt the little imps which only seems fair because she did have to endure many, many months of my Clomid induced mood swings.
I believe in two things*: visibility and the power of the personal narrative. I write about my experience as a lesbian and mother to claim that power and, hopefully, do some good along the way.
I have been blogging about family life since 2006 on my personal blog, Up Popped a Fox. You can also find me at Aiming Low and I tweet like a madwoman at @uppoppedafox.
I am excited to be a part of Lesbian Family and can’t wait to see what we make of this together.
Now who wants a drink in a coconut?
*Okay, I believe in other things too but my love of marshmallow Peeps doesn’t seem relevant in this context.
I would love a coconut drink!
Welcome aboard! I’m more of a Julie the Cruise Director. I’m the one who organizes & coordinates.
Just want to be clear- there will be a some Charo, right?
For you? Anything.

Julie McCoy was probably one of my first crushes.
Mine too!
That makes three of us, which makes a statistically significant sample. But you know who really beat out Lauren Tewes? Diahann Carroll, in Julia (dates me; the show was on 1968 – 1971). Dreamy.
